Android App Development Services
Our Android app development team builds native apps with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose that run well across phones, tablets and foldables. We follow Material Design 3, handle Google Play submission, and give you a fixed-scope quote before any work begins.
- Fixed-scope quoteA written price and milestone plan before any work starts.
- From $4,999 CADTypical single-platform apps $5,000 to $12,000.

Who this service is for
This service fits businesses whose customers or field staff mostly carry Android phones, products that need rugged devices, tablets or foldables, and teams that already run on Google services such as Workspace, Maps or Firebase. If most of your revenue comes from iPhone users, we will point you to native iOS or a cross-platform build instead.
What to look for in an Android app development company
Look for four things: native Kotlin and Jetpack Compose rather than a wrapper around a website, testing on real devices across several manufacturers and Android versions, a team that handles the Google Play listing, data safety form and staged rollout, and a written fixed-scope quote before any work starts. Ask who will actually write the code and whether you can speak to them. Ask how they handle tablets, foldables and older devices if your users carry them. Ask what happens after launch, because Android releases a new version every year and Google Play policies change more often than that. Finally, ask for the source repository, signing keys and store account in your name at handover. If a company cannot answer all of that plainly, it is not the right one. Our questions to ask an app development company covers the rest.
What's included
- Native Android apps built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Material Design 3 interfaces that fit the platform
- Support for phones, tablets and foldable screens
- Google Play submission and store listing setup
- Offline storage, push notifications and secure sign-in
- Architecture that scales to large user numbers
What is not included
- iOS versions (quoted separately or through cross-platform apps)
- Device procurement or mobile device management for your fleet
- Marketing, paid ads and store campaigns after launch
Anything on this list can still be quoted as a separate line, so nothing is hidden inside the main price.
How the engagement runs
- Discovery and scope. We list the devices and Android versions you must support, the roles and screens, and the systems the app connects to, then agree a fixed-scope quote.
- Material design and prototype. Wireframes and a clickable prototype using Material Design 3 so the app feels familiar to Android users and adapts to different screen sizes.
- Build in short cycles. Kotlin and Compose development in one to two week cycles, shipped to you through an internal testing track so you can install each build on your own phone.
- Device matrix testing. Testing across a range of manufacturers, screen sizes and Android versions, including low-memory devices and battery restrictions that vary by brand.
- Play Store release. We complete the data safety and content rating forms, run a staged rollout, watch crash reports and hand over the console in your name.
Every step ends with something you can open and check: a document, a prototype or a build on your own phone. Read the full four-step process for how milestones and payments line up.
Deliverables and what you own
- A Git repository with the full Kotlin source, Gradle build and a README
- Signing keys and Play Console ownership transferred to you
- Design files and a Compose component library
- Backend source and deployment notes if we built the API
- Milestone release notes and a handover call
You own all of it on final payment. Nothing is licensed back to us and nothing is held on our accounts.
How we approach it
We design flows that match how Android users navigate, then build them in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose so the interface stays consistent and quick to update. We test on a range of real devices, since Android hardware varies widely.
Google Play has its own listing and policy requirements. We prepare your release build, data safety form and store assets, submit the app, and stay on to ship updates as new Android versions and devices appear.
Technology choices and when each fits
| Option | Fits when | Look elsewhere when |
|---|---|---|
| Kotlin with Jetpack Compose | New apps, modern UI, tablets and foldables, fast iteration | Very old minimum Android versions where Compose support is limited |
| Kotlin with XML views | Extending an existing app already built on views | New apps, because Compose is faster to build and easier to maintain |
| Firebase services | Push notifications, crash reporting, analytics and quick prototypes | As the only backend for complex business logic or heavy reporting |
| Cross-platform instead of native Android | You need iOS on the same day and the app is mostly forms and content | Apps tied to specific hardware, background services or enterprise device features |
Tools we use
- Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Material Design 3
- Room and DataStore for local storage
- Coroutines and Flow for async work
- Android Studio and Google Play Console
What drives the cost
Most apps we build land between $5,000 and $25,000, and these drivers decide where yours sits in that range. Your quote is fixed-scope once they are known. See our price sheet or try the app cost calculator.
| Cost driver | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Device and OS coverage | Every extra manufacturer, screen class and older Android version adds testing time. |
| Background work | Location tracking, syncing and long-running tasks must respect battery rules that differ by brand and take longer to get right. |
| Integrations | Payments, maps, barcode scanners, printers and existing business systems each add build and test effort. |
| Offline behaviour | Field apps that must work without signal need local storage, conflict handling and careful testing. |
| Number of roles and screens | Admin, staff and customer views multiply design and testing work. |
Timelines and what moves them
- Focused first version (MVP). 4 to 8 weeks
- Full business app with backend and integrations. 3 to 6 months
- Google Play review. often within a few days for established accounts, longer for new developer accounts
What shortens or extends these ranges:
- New Google Play developer accounts have extra verification and testing requirements before a production release
- Whether an API already exists
- The size of the device matrix you need tested
- Speed of feedback and decisions each week
Risks and how we handle them
- Fragmentation bugs on specific devices. We test on a matrix of real devices and use crash reporting from the first internal build.
- Play policy changes. We track Google Play policy updates and target the latest required API level so the app is not blocked from releasing.
- Losing the signing key. We enrol the app in Play App Signing and document key custody in your handover pack.
How to prepare before you ask for a quote
You do not need a specification. These five things are enough for us to scope accurately:
- Which devices your users or staff actually carry, including any rugged or shared devices
- The oldest Android version you must support
- A list of systems the app must connect to
- Whether you have a Google Play developer account already
- A rough launch date and any deadlines behind it
Why choose us
- Senior Android engineers who ship Play Store apps regularly
- Fixed-scope quotes with a clear milestone plan
- Testing across many phone, tablet and foldable devices
- You own all source code and Play assets at handover
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Most Android projects range from a range that depends on scope depending on features, integrations and design. You get a fixed-scope quote after a free consultation.
We build new apps with Jetpack Compose because it is faster to develop and keeps the codebase clean. We can work with existing XML layouts when we take over an older app.
Yes. We build responsive layouts that adapt to phones, tablets and foldable screens, and we test each on real hardware.
Yes. We prepare your release build, data safety details and store listing, then submit the app and respond to any policy feedback.
We build adaptive layouts and test on a spread of common devices and screen sizes so your app looks right for the widest possible audience.
Discovery, design, Kotlin development, testing across a device matrix, Play Store submission and a warranty period. Backend and API work is included when you do not already have one, and we scope it as its own line so you can see the cost.
Build for the platform most of your paying users are on. In many business and field-service settings that is Android; in consumer apps aimed at higher-spending users it is often iOS. If you need both quickly, a cross-platform build is usually the right call.
Yes. Compose lets us adapt layouts to screen size. Tablet and foldable layouts are extra design and testing work, so we scope them separately.
Yes. We start with a code and Play Console review, report what we find in plain language, and quote the work fixed-scope.
