iOS App Development
Our iOS app development team builds native iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch apps that feel right at home on Apple hardware. We use Swift and SwiftUI, follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, and take care of App Store submission so your launch goes smoothly.

Who this service is for
This service fits companies whose customers are mostly on iPhone, products that need the best possible performance on Apple hardware, and apps that lean on Apple features such as Apple Pay, HealthKit, Apple Watch, widgets or iCloud sync. If you need Android on the same day, our cross-platform service is usually the better fit, and we will tell you so in the first call.
What's included
- Native iPhone and iPad apps built with Swift and SwiftUI
- Apple Watch and widget support where it fits your product
- App Store submission, review preparation and store listing copy
- Core Data and CloudKit for offline storage and sync
- Push notifications, in-app purchases and secure sign-in
- Performance tuning for older and current iOS versions
What is not included
- Android or web versions (quoted separately or through cross-platform apps)
- Ongoing marketing, paid ads and app store campaigns
- Content, photography or copy for your product beyond the store listing
Anything on this list can still be quoted as a separate line, so nothing is hidden inside the main price.
How the engagement runs
- Discovery and scope. We map the screens, user roles and integrations, decide what belongs in version one, and agree a fixed-scope quote and milestone plan.
- Design in Apple conventions. Wireframes and a clickable prototype that follow the Human Interface Guidelines, so the app feels native and passes review without redesign.
- Build in short cycles. Swift and SwiftUI development in one to two week cycles, with a TestFlight build you can open on your own iPhone at the end of each cycle.
- Device and OS testing. Testing on real iPhone and iPad models and on the current and previous iOS versions, plus accessibility checks with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.
- Submission and launch. We prepare the privacy questionnaire, screenshots and listing, submit to App Store Connect, answer review questions and hand over the account.
Every step ends with something you can open and check: a document, a prototype or a build on your own phone. Read the full four-step process for how milestones and payments line up.
Deliverables and what you own
- A Git repository with the full Swift source, build scripts and a README that lets another team build it
- Design files, icons and a component library
- Backend source and infrastructure notes if we built the API
- The Apple developer account, certificates and App Store Connect access in your name
- Release notes for each milestone and a handover call
You own all of it on final payment. Nothing is licensed back to us and nothing is held on our accounts.
How we approach it
We start by mapping the screens and flows your iPhone users need, then build in Swift and SwiftUI so the app matches the look and feel people expect on iOS. Every feature is tested on real devices across screen sizes before it reaches you.
Apple's review process has clear rules, and we know them well. We prepare your build, privacy details and store listing so review goes quickly, and we stay involved after launch to handle updates as new iOS versions arrive.
Technology choices and when each fits
| Option | Fits when | Look elsewhere when |
|---|---|---|
| SwiftUI | New apps targeting recent iOS versions, fast iteration, widgets and Apple Watch | Apps that must support very old iOS versions or need unusual custom controls |
| UIKit | Complex custom interfaces, heavy camera or video work, older codebases you already own | Greenfield apps where SwiftUI covers the interface, because it costs more to build and maintain |
| Core Data or SwiftData with CloudKit | Offline-first apps and sync between a user's own devices | Shared multi-user data, which belongs in a proper backend and API |
| Cross-platform instead of native iOS | You need Android at the same time and the app is mostly forms, lists and content | Apps built around Apple-only hardware features or where every millisecond of animation matters |
Tools we use
- Swift and SwiftUI
- UIKit where a project needs it
- Core Data and CloudKit
- Xcode, TestFlight and App Store Connect
- Combine and async/await for data flow
What drives the cost
Most apps we build land between $5,000 and $25,000, and these drivers decide where yours sits in that range. Your quote is fixed-scope once they are known. See our price sheet or try the app cost calculator.
| Cost driver | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Number of screens and user roles | Each distinct screen needs design, build and testing. Admin, customer and staff roles multiply the work. |
| Backend and integrations | Payments, sign-in providers, maps, messaging and existing business systems each add build and test time. |
| Offline and sync behaviour | Working without signal and merging changes later is one of the most expensive features to get right. |
| Device coverage | Supporting iPad layouts, Apple Watch and widgets adds design and testing on top of the iPhone build. |
| Design depth | Custom animation, illustration and user testing cost more than a clean build on standard components. |
Timelines and what moves them
- Focused first version (MVP). 4 to 8 weeks
- Full business app with backend and integrations. 3 to 6 months
- App Store review after submission. usually a few days, longer if Apple asks questions
What shortens or extends these ranges:
- How quickly decisions and feedback come back each week
- Whether an API already exists or has to be built
- Third-party approvals, for example payment providers or Apple Pay onboarding
- Scope changes mid-build, which we quote before starting
Risks and how we handle them
- App Store rejection. We design to the guidelines from the start, complete the privacy labels honestly and keep a review checklist for every submission.
- Breaking changes in a new iOS release. We test against Apple betas each summer and offer a maintenance plan so the app is updated before the public release.
- Lock-in to the studio. You own the repository and the Apple account from day one, and the code is documented so another team can take over.
How to prepare before you ask for a quote
You do not need a specification. These five things are enough for us to scope accurately:
- A one-page description of who the app is for and the three things it must do
- Screenshots or links to apps you like and why
- A list of systems the app must talk to (payments, CRM, booking, records)
- Whether you already have an Apple developer account and a backend
- A rough launch date and any hard deadlines behind it
Why choose us
- Senior iOS engineers who ship App Store apps every month
- Fixed-scope quotes so you know the cost before we start
- You own the full source code and Apple assets at handover
- Real device testing across iPhone and iPad models
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
It depends on the number of screens, the backend and integrations you need, offline behaviour and how many Apple devices you support. With us, a focused iOS app usually costs $5,000 to $12,000, and those drivers decide where yours lands. After a free consultation we give you a fixed-scope quote.
We build most new apps in SwiftUI because it is faster to develop and easier to maintain. We use UIKit where a specific feature or older iOS support calls for it.
Yes. We prepare your build, privacy questionnaire and listing to meet Apple's guidelines, and we handle the submission and any review feedback for you.
Yes. We support iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and widgets. We help you decide which of these are worth building based on how your customers use the product.
We test against upcoming iOS betas and offer maintenance plans that keep your app compatible as Apple ships new versions each year.
A native iOS build uses Swift and Apple's own frameworks, so it gets new Apple features first and runs as smoothly as the platform allows. A cross-platform build shares most code with Android, which lowers cost when you need both stores. We recommend one or the other based on your users, not on what is easier for us.
Yes. An iPhone app can run on iPad in compatibility mode, but a proper iPad layout with split views and keyboard support is extra design and testing work. We scope it as its own line so you can decide whether it is worth it for version one.
A clear description of the users and the core features, access to any existing systems the app must connect to, and a decision maker who can give feedback each week. We handle the Apple account setup with you if you do not have one.
Yes. We start with a code review to report what is sound and what needs work, then quote the changes fixed-scope. We do not rebuild what does not need rebuilding.
